Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) is any substance containing ingredients that could negatively affect your safety, health (or that of a pet/animal) or the environment when disposed of incorrectly.
HHWs are found in everyday products and can be poisonous, corrosive, flammable, explosive or reactive. Signal words on packaging may include poison, toxic, danger, warning and/or caution.
Disposing of HHW can be tricky and these free events help take out the guesswork.
Most HHWs Are Accepted:
- household batteries 
- pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers 
- cleaners and bleaches 
- fluorescent light bulbs 
- pool and hot tub chemicals 
- vitamins and supplements 
- painting products (stain, solvent, spray paint) 
- automotive products (virtually all fluids) 
- personal care products (shampoo, lotion, nail polish remover) 
- mercury-containing items (thermostats, button-shaped batteries)
